Label tab

Use the Label tab to set up mailing label options. The Mail Label tab is a powerful panel of control, enabling you to print data on virtually any labels that are commercially available for line printers (dot matrix) or page printers (laser, ink jet). Use the settings and formatting commands to fine-tune your printing so the labels come out just the way you want them.

The Mail Label tab offers two ways to set up labels:

Automatically, by Avery label number

To make your work easier, the program comes with preset templates for the most popular Avery labels. Those labels are listed, by number, in the Mailing Label Type list.

  1. Click the scroll arrow and scroll down to see if the Avery Label you are using is listed.
  2. If it is, select the number and the program will automatically set up the specifications for that label.
  3. Click OK when finished.
Manually

If your label is not displayed in the Mailing Label Type list, you need to use the various settings on the Mailing Labels tab to set up the label manually. Select the User-Defined Label option from the list and change the remaining dialog box settings to conform to the label you are going to use.

Mailing Label Type

This list displays a list of the preset templates for most Avery labels as well as a User-Defined Label option to create custom label sizes.

Mailing Label Size

These edit boxes enable you to specify the dimensions (height and width) of one label. This information can usually be found on the box or folder the labels come in. Simply enter the height and width values in the respective edit boxes.

Note:    The unit of measurement used in the dialog box (inches or centimeters) is based on the Measurement setting in the International section of the Windows Control Panel (English = inches, Metric = Centimeters).

Gap Between Labels

These edit boxes enable you to specify the empty area (gap, gutter, and so on) between labels. Simply measure the gaps and then enter the horizontal and vertical values in the respective edit boxes.

Note:    The unit of measurement used in the dialog box (inches or centimeters) is based on the Measurement setting in the International section of the Windows Control Panel (English = inches, Metric = Centimeters).

Page Margins

These edit boxes enable you to set the top, bottom, left, and right margins of your page. Simply measure the margins and enter the values in the respective edit boxes.

Note:

Printing Direction

The Printing Direction section enables you to specify the path that the program follows when printing the data on your labels.

Number of Labels

This information box displays the maximum number of labels that can print across the page and the maximum number that can print down the page based on your settings in the Page Margins, Mailing Label Size, and Gap Between Labels edit boxes and paper size (which is setup in Windows' Control Panel).
